Packing and package contents
Turn completed picks into identifiable packages with recorded contents, weights and dimensions, ready to hand off to the shipment workflow.
Know what is inside each package
A packing task links the picked quantities to the packages prepared for dispatch. Record the contents instead of relying on an operator's memory or an unstructured note. Package information stays associated with its source work so the shipping team can select the prepared goods rather than re-entering the order from scratch.
Keep the warehouse handoff explicit
Packing follows the completion of the corresponding pick. Weights and dimensions use the company's regional units, and package contents carry the underlying line references. Shipment preparation works with the saved package evidence. This is useful for multi-box orders where the invoice quantity alone cannot explain how the goods were packed.
What to know before you start
Packing is not carrier booking or proof of delivery. Package changes and shipment selection follow the saved source and whole-package safeguards; printing depends on the configured document template.
Practical questions
Can one order produce several packages?
Yes. Packages retain their individual content and measurements instead of collapsing everything into one order-level note.
Does packing already reduce stock?
The saved shipment is the final stock-affecting shipping step. Picking and packing prepare and commit the goods for that handoff.
Continue the workflow
Warehouse picking
Turn selected sales-order or replacement demand into a picking task, with product, bin, lot and serial checks before the packing stage can proceed.
Outbound shipments
Finalize outgoing goods against the correct order or replacement case, retaining package, quantity and source details with the stock movement.
Sales order management
Capture a customer's order with agreed prices and delivery details, reserve stock and follow fulfillment and invoicing without confusing an order with a shipment.
