Stock shortages and replenishment planning

Compare stock, sales and manufacturing demand, incoming purchases and configured buffers to identify products that need purchasing or production attention.

Read the demand behind the shortage

The inventory view separates on-hand, available, to-ship, sales-order, manufacturing-order and purchase-order quantities. Safety stock and reorder points add your chosen buffers. This makes a shortage explainable: operators can see whether pressure comes from committed sales, unissued manufacturing materials or the stock policy rather than from one opaque alert.

Turn a stock decision into the right next document

Use the product's buying or making setup to decide how to address the gap. Incoming purchase orders are visible, but the displayed missing quantity does not simply subtract expected deliveries as though they had already arrived. Review the dates and outstanding orders before creating more supply, and check manufacturing material availability before release.

What to know before you start

This is operational shortage visibility, not a promise of automatic purchase orders, demand forecasting or finite-capacity scheduling. The displayed MO demand represents unissued materials, not expected finished output.

Practical questions

Does an open purchase order remove a shortage?

Expected purchases are shown separately. The missing calculation does not treat unreceived purchases as physical stock.

Is this full MRP or capacity planning?

The documented capability is stock and material-demand visibility. Discuss advanced forecasting or scheduling requirements separately rather than assuming they are included.
