Manufacturing material picking
Prepare the complete material requirement from the released BOM, with warehouse, bin, lot and serial checks before production steps are unlocked.
Pick the released recipe, not today's catalogue
Manufacturing begins with a mandatory material pick generated from the job's frozen BOM. The target includes the physical components required for the planned quantity and uses the source unit conversions. Stock allocation respects existing commitments and the applicable tracking identities, so another order's reserved material is not casually consumed.
Confirm consumption before the next step
The interaction follows the warehouse-picking pattern but does not add a sales-packing stage. Partial scans do not consume stock. Completing the material pick creates the corresponding material issues through the stock, cost and accounting workflow. Only verified full issue quantities finish the first step and release the following production operation.
What to know before you start
Material picking is not backflushing. The workflow does not shrink a BOM requirement to fit available stock, and an interrupted finalization must recover its original material issues.
Practical questions
Do partial scans reduce stock?
No. The consumption handoff occurs through confirmed material issues at pick completion.
Is there a packing task for manufacturing materials?
No. The material-pick workflow hands off to production, not to sales packing and outbound shipment.
Continue the workflow
Manufacturing orders
Create a manufacturing job for a make-enabled product, release a frozen BOM recipe and track materials, operations and finished quantities through completion.
Stock reservations and availability
Distinguish physical stock from quantities already committed to sales, manufacturing and transfer workflows before promising or consuming the same goods again.
Manufacturing materials and work in progress
Connect material consumption, recorded output and work-in-progress information to the manufacturing job instead of treating production cost as a disconnected spreadsheet.
