Manufacturing work centers
Give manufacturing process steps a clear operational home by assigning active work centers in the bill of materials.
Identify where each operation belongs
A work center gives a process step an identifiable place in your production organization. Define the centers your operation needs and reference the active center from the relevant BOM step. This turns a generic instruction such as assembly or finishing into work associated with the right operational resource, without hiding that choice in free text.
Keep the job tied to its released process
When a manufacturing order is released, its process snapshot preserves the ordered steps and their work-center context. Operators execute those steps through the production workflow, with timing, progress and required quality evidence. The initial material pick is intentionally different: it is a stock-preparation step and does not require a production work center.
What to know before you start
Work-center assignment is not a promise of automatic finite-capacity scheduling, machine telemetry or payroll costing. Those requirements need a separate scope discussion.
Practical questions
Does every BOM step need a work center?
Process steps require an active saved center. The mandatory initial material-pick step deliberately has no work center.
Can I replace a work center by editing a job's label?
A released job follows its frozen process. Changes must respect the supported BOM and job lifecycle, not bypass it with a label edit.

Bills of materials and revisions
Define a versioned manufacturing recipe containing both component quantities and ordered process steps, with material assignments and quality requirements.
Production progress and operation timers
Start, pause, resume, report and complete manufacturing steps with recorded timings, predecessor checks and visible progress instead of editable success statuses.
Manufacturing orders
Create a manufacturing job for a make-enabled product, release a frozen BOM recipe and track materials, operations and finished quantities through completion.
